A perfect storm of pandemic-related shutdowns, an already overworked animal care system, and veterinary service shortages makes “kitten season” feel neverending for workers at Pet Pride of New York. However, Pet Pride was even better prepared than normal with a recently completed $1.2 million expansion of its sanctuary and adoption center. Sullivan says a $500,000 donation in 2019 allowed Pet Pride to move forward with expansion plans. Pet Pride, which has been in operation since 1977, can now shelter up to 80 cats and kittens at one time. The shelter also will accept cats back if an owner who adopted from Pet Pride has a need to surrender their pet.

Getting kitten food is essential, not adult cat food or puppy food. VarietyEven if your kitten seems to prefer one type of pet food, keep offering it different types and flavours of kitten food so that its palette is manageable. It's Whiskers & Meows café, Wyoming's first cat café. There are two windows into the cat room, but the owners plan to add a floor-to-ceiling window when you first walk in. The cat room itself is a giant feline playground, with scratching posts and climbing towers and profiles of each cat, along with their picture, on the wall. The décor, of course, stays with the feline theme, with cat art and a big neon sign in the cat room that says, "Are you kitten me?"
